A recuperator is a special-purpose counter-flow energy recovery heat exchanger installed within the supply and exhaust air streams of an air handling system or in the exhaust gases of an industrial process. Its primary function is to recover waste heat from exhaust gases and reuse it to preheat incoming air.
By utilizing waste energy to heat combustion air, recuperators reduce fuel consumption and significantly improve overall energy efficiency of the system.
